These Terms & Conditions govern your use of Meritwise services. By creating an account, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1 Acceptance of Terms

Meritwise is a digital payment platform. By accessing or using the Meritwise mobile application or services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Important: These terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Meritwise. Please read them carefully.

2 Eligibility & Account Registration

To access Meritwise services, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Provide accurate and truthful information during registration
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your login details and PIN
  • Be responsible for all activities carried out on your account

Note: Meritwise reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false or misleading information.

3 Services Provided

Meritwise provides the following services:

  • Wallet funding: Add money to your Meritwise wallet
  • Wallet-to-wallet transfers: Send money to other Meritwise users
  • Bank transfers: Transfer money to bank accounts
  • Airtime purchases: Buy mobile airtime for all networks
  • Data subscriptions: Purchase data bundles
  • Cable TV payments: Pay for cable TV subscriptions
  • Electricity bill payments: Pay electricity bills

Please Note: Meritwise does not offer loans, savings, investments, betting, or virtual cards.

4 Fees & Charges

Meritwise earns revenue only from service fees on:

  • Airtime purchases
  • Data subscriptions
  • Cable TV payments
  • Electricity bill payments

Any applicable fee will be clearly displayed before transaction confirmation.

4.1 Other Transaction Fees

Wallet funding, wallet transfers, and bank transfers may be free or charged depending on the payment method used.

5 Transactions & Refunds

Transactions are processed through licensed third-party payment providers.

  • Failed transactions are automatically reversed where applicable
  • Successful airtime, data, cable, and electricity purchases may not be refundable
  • Users are encouraged to report transaction issues as soon as possible.

Important: Meritwise is not responsible for service failures caused by third-party providers.

6 User Responsibilities

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the platform for fraud or illegal activities
  • Attempt to hack, exploit, or bypass system security
  • Use another person's payment method without authorization
  • Create multiple accounts to abuse promotions

Violation Consequences: Violation may result in suspension, termination, or legal action.

7 Security

Meritwise implements reasonable security measures, including:

  • Secure communication protocols
  • Access controls
  • Transaction monitoring
  • Rate limiting and fraud detection

Security Warning: Users must never share passwords, PINs, or OTPs. Meritwise staff will never request sensitive credentials.

8 Account Suspension & Termination

8.1 Meritwise's Right to Suspend or Terminate

Meritwise may suspend or terminate accounts if:

  • Fraud or suspicious activity is detected
  • Verification requirements are not met
  • These terms are violated
  • Required by law or authorities

8.2 Your Right to Close Your Account

Users may request account closure at any time, subject to completion of pending transactions.

9 Limitation of Liability

Meritwise acts as a payment intermediary and is not liable for:

  • Downtime or failures from banks or service providers
  • Network or system interruptions beyond our control
  • Losses caused by user negligence

10 Changes to Terms

Meritwise may update these Terms at any time. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.

Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.
